Jung Woo-young has finally found the right fit.

Jung Woo-young (25, Union Berlin) has finally found the right fit.

The 25-year-old started and scored a goal in the 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga 6th round match of the 2024-2025 season between FC Union Berlin and Borussia Dortmund at the Stadion an der Alten Försterlei in Berlin, Germany, on Friday at 10:30 p.m. ET.

With the three points, Union moved above Dortmund into sixth place in the league with 11 points (three wins, two draws, and one loss). Dortmund, who failed to win away from home again, slipped to seventh place with 10 points (3 W, 1 D, 2 L).

Union lined up in a 3-4-3 formation. Jorber Pertesson-Benedikt Hollerbach-Jung Woo-young formed the attacking combination, while Tom Lotte-Lani Khedira-Alyosha Kemline-Christopher Trimmel filled the midfield. Diogo Reit-Kevin Falkt-Daniel Dookie formed the back three, with Frederik Löw in goal.

Dortmund lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Serge Girassi started up front, while Jamie Vyno Gittens, Julian Brandt and Maximilian Bayer formed the attacking two. Pascal Gross-Emre Can was in the middle of the park, while Julian Luegersson, Nico Schlatterbeck, Valdemar Anton and Yann Kutto formed the back four. Gregor Kovel wore the goalkeeping gloves.

It was Union who opened the scoring. In the 23rd minute of the first half, Hollerbach drove the ball into the box from a loose ball from behind and was tripped by Schlotterbeck’s leg, and the referee awarded a penalty kick. Falk stepped up to the spot and rattled the net with a powerful shot.

Union added another goal just before halftime. 메이저사이트 Trimmel sent in a corner kick from the right flank, and Ferteson headed home the ball from outside the box.

The first half ended with a 2-0 lead for Union.

In the second half, Dortmund pulled one back. In the 17th minute, Brandt’s ball down the flank was picked up by Ljersson and he fired a right-footed shot to make it 2-1.

Union made a substitution.

In the 22nd minute of the second half, Jung, Fertesun, and Kemline were brought off the bench in favor of Undrash Schaefer, Jordand Sivacheu, and Tim Skarque. The match ended in a 2-1 victory for Union.

Jung Woo-young, who started the game and played around 67 minutes, was active between the front line and the attacking second line. With two shots on goal, a 91% passing success rate (20-of-22), and one chance created, he also made his presence felt on defense with one tackle, one interception, and four ball recoveries.

After the game, Berliner Zeitung said of Jung: “He was very present in the front line and active in defensive situations. It was a bit too much,” commenting on Jung’s dedicated style of play.

“The yellow card for the foul on Pascal Gross was justified. At the beginning of the second half, he was a technically excellent attacker and was very active, creating several dangerous situations.”

Since joining SC Freiburg from Bayern Munich in 2019, Jung has struggled to find his feet as his playing time has dwindled. The same happened at VfB Stuttgart, where he joined in 2023. At Union, where he joined on loan, he seems to have finally found the right fit.
