‘Incheon International Airport Honorary Ambassador’ Kim Yeon-kyung, “I’m honored and will spread the word”

Volleyball queen Kim Yeon-kyung (36) has become an honorary ambassador for Incheon International Airport.

“I am pleased to announce that I have been selected as an honorary ambassador of Incheon International Airport,” Kim announced on social media on the 26th.

Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 26th that it has appointed Korean women’s professional volleyball player Kim Yeon-kyung as an honorary ambassador. Kim was named the 2021 International Volleyball Federation Player of the Year after playing in the Chinese Professional League with Turkkiye. She went on to become the centerpiece of the Korean national team at the London 2021 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics, leading them to the quarterfinals.

Kim Yeon-kyung recently played her national retirement match. On the 8th of this month, the ‘KYK INVITATIONAL 2024’ was held at Jamsil Gymnasium. Kim Soo Ji, Yang Hyo Jin, Hwang Yeon Joo, Kim Hae Ran, Han Songi, Kim Sani, Lee Sook Ja, Lee Hyo Hee, Lim Eun Jung, and Han Yumi gathered to celebrate Kim’s national retirement.

Kim made her first senior national team appearance in 2005 at the age of 17 when she was selected for the Grand Champions Cup. She went on to represent South Korea in numerous international competitions. She retired from the national team at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, hanging up her national honors after 17 years.

Although she has retired from the national team, Kim will continue to promote Incheon International Airport as one of Korea’s most representative and globally recognized volleyball players.
