Resting Son Heung-min, Kim Min-jae? They’ll want to play”
Klinsmann suggests that the restraining Son Heung-min and Kim Min-jae will likely enjoy playing together.
National team coach Jürgen Klinsmann has no intention of resting overseas players such as Son Heung-min and Kim Min-jae in the upcoming trials.
Speaking at a press conference at the national team’s training center in Paju on Monday, Klinsmann said, “The national team is the highest honor you can have as a player. Not everyone can experience it. Just playing in front of your home fans makes you want to play full time. Depending on the level of fatigue, we will take measures such as reducing the amount of exercise.”
The national team will face Tunisia (Nov. 13) and Vietnam (Nov. 17) this month. Captain Son Heung-min, who is returning to South Korea for the occasion, is currently on time management after suffering a groin injury with Tottenham Hotspur. He is usually substituted midway through the second half and rarely plays the full game. Kim Min-jae has also been on a roll since his move to Bayern Munich. He complained of physical difficulties during his time at Napoli last season due to the intense workload. This summer, he went through basic military training and entered the season unfit, so there are many who believe he shouldn’t have to play against Tunisia and Vietnam, who are both relatively weak opponents.
“The health of the players is the priority,” Klinsmann said. It’s also important to talk to their respective managers. From Tottenham’s point of view, they want them to come back as healthy as possible after their time with the national team, and the same goes for me. You have to be understanding and considerate. That’s why I travel abroad a lot, to talk to players and clubs and build relationships.”
He also opened up about the foreign travel controversy. Klinsmann, who has faced controversy for his “remote work” when he was in charge of other countries and clubs, has been traveling around the U.S. and Europe since taking charge of South Korea. He returned home with the squad after an A match in England last month due to poor public opinion, but after watching two games in Korea, he traveled to the U.S., where he is based, again within five days before returning home for the latest trial.
“I’m constantly hearing (about domestic public opinion). “If you’re a coach of a K League team, you’re supposed to stay in Korea, 온라인카지노 but a national team coach is different,” he said, “and the way I think about the role and the way I work may be different from what fans and the media are used to. I travel a lot, and I’m always working wherever I am. This is how I work,” he said.
“I can travel to Europe and talk to players, club officials, and managers to understand the situation,” he said, adding, “I plan to run the national team the way I do. It’s not going to change,” he said.
