Yotte Hajimin finishes 26th, fails to advance to the final…ends 5th Challenge
South Korean sailor Hajimin Hae-min (Haeundae-gu Office) failed to qualify for the final of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, finishing in 26th place.
Hajimin accumulated 140 penalty points for the first through eighth races of the men’s Laser class at the Paris Olympic Sailing Competition, which concluded on Nov. 4 (local time), and finished in 26th place.
After the ninth and 10th races on Friday afternoon, the combined results of the 10 races were to be used to determine the 10 sailors who would compete in the final race on Saturday, called the Medal Race.
However, the ninth and 10th races were canceled due to bad weather in the Marseille Marina in southern France, the venue for the regatta.
As a result, Hajimin was forced to withdraw from the medal race after eight races, as only 10 sailors were selected for the medal race.
Nicholas Halliday (HONG Kong) was the highest Asian finisher in 24th place.
Singapore’s Ryan Loh, who won last year’s Asian Games in Hangzhou, pushing Hajimin to second place, was 25th.
Hajimin, the only member of the Korean team to compete in Paris as an aquatics athlete, seemed to be gaining momentum after a slow start to the Games, taking a surprise first place in race seven.
However, she had to swallow her disappointment when the race was ended early due to weather conditions.
Hajimin, who sails a single-handed dinghy (a boat without an engine and cabin that sails on the power of the wind), is considered one of the leading sailors in Asia beyond Korea.
He has won three consecutive Asian Games podiums – Guangzhou 2010, Incheon 2014, and Jakarta-Palembang 2018 – with a gold medal.
He is also a veteran Olympian. She has competed in five consecutive Olympic Games, starting in Beijing in 2008.
Hajimin’s best Olympic finish was seventh at Tokyo 2020.
She is the first South Korean sailor to finish in the top 10 at an Olympic Games.
At her first Games, in Beijing, she finished 28th. He finished 24th in London 2012, 13th in Rio de Janeiro 2016, and 26th in Paris. 바카라사이트 추천
