Kia’s Chan Ho Park at the Golden Globes: “I’m here to show you the dignity of second place”

The biggest battleground for this year’s Golden Globe Awards is the shortstop category.

Kia Tigers shortstop Park Chan-ho (28) and LG Twins shortstop Oh Ji-hwan (33) are competing for the award.

Park is batting .301 with three home runs, 52 RBIs, 70 runs scored, and 30 stolen bases in 130 games this season.

In 126 games, Oh hit .268 with eight home runs, 62 RBIs, 65 runs scored, and 16 stolen bases.

On paper, it’s hard to tell which player is better.

However, the odds are in favor of Oh.

He has the “premium” of leading his team LG to the Korean Series (KS) title.

The Golden Globe voting by media members is done after the KS is over, so Oh is likely to win.

In the meantime, Park Chan-ho attended the award ceremony in person and attracted attention.

“I actually didn’t plan to come, but I came to show the dignity of the second place,” Park Chan-ho told reporters at the COEX Auditorium in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where the 2023 Golden Globe Awards will be held on November 11.

“Honestly, I think everyone knows,” he said, “It’s an honor just to be mentioned alongside Oh Ji-hwan. I feel like I’m one step closer to him, so I’m enjoying it.”

Park Chan-ho also said that he thinks the Golden Globe Awards will have a big impact on the rest of his life.

“I wanted to come at least once,” he said, adding, “I will definitely attend again as an honoree someday.” 파워볼
