“It’s a dream to be Liverpool manager”… The life-limited manager’s wish is finally coming true
Sven-Goran Eriksson’s wish is about to come true.
“Sven-Goran Eriksson has described the chance to finally take charge of Liverpool at Anfield as a dream,” British outlet Goal.com reported on Nov. 23 (KST).
Eriksson has been given “at best” a year to live after being diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. The former England manager revealed his lifelong affection for Liverpool and said he wished he could have managed the club.
“I’ve always wanted to be the manager of Liverpool, my dad is still alive and still a supporter of the club and I’m a supporter of the club, so I’ve always wanted to be the manager of Liverpool, and to take the reins at Anfield in the Legends Match would be a dream come true, and I would definitely take that opportunity,” Eriksson said.
Liverpool fans have called on the club to allow Eriksson to manage a team of Liverpool legends in a charity match, and Klopp said he would welcome Eriksson to take charge, even for a day.
Klopp told reporters: “When I heard the news, obviously it was very emotional. It was the first time I heard about his respect and love for Liverpool and that he was a lifelong fan. I also heard about the legends game and so on, but that’s not my responsibility.”
He continued, “What I can tell you is that he is absolutely welcome to come here, and if he wants to, he can sit in my seat in my office and do my job for the day. That’s no problem. It might be a little more difficult to do it on the side. If we can bring him here and show him everything and show him how this great club has developed over the years, it will definitely be good for him. I’m sure he’ll have a great time here,” he added.
Now that Eriksson has been confirmed as Liverpool’s manager for the Legends Match, he is thrilled. “It’s a dream,” Eriksson said. I never dreamed of it before, but I’ve 카지노 always dreamed of Liverpool as a manager. It almost happened once many years ago, there were some discussions, but it didn’t happen, but now it has. At first I thought it was a joke,” he said.
Eriksson has received messages of support from the global soccer community since revealing his cancer diagnosis. The charity match between Liverpool Legends and Ajax will take place at Anfield on March 23 (local time). Proceeds from the match will support the work of the LFC Foundation and its charity partners.
The Legends Match, now in its eighth year, will feature the likes of Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and Sami Hyypia, while Ajax will be represented by Jari Litmanen, Nwankwo Kanu and Rafael van der Vaart.
