Fifa breaks promise, burns out another coach, ‘June interim’ Kim Do-hoon

The Korean Football Association continues to consume coaches while the domestic pool is narrow.

The KFA said it would find a new coach by this month and failed to fulfill its promise, forcing another Korean coach to take on the enormous task on a short-term basis. Kim Do-hoon, who has been touted as another firefighter to save South Korean soccer from the crisis, has accepted the interim job.

“We have decided to play the two Asian second round qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup North America in June under an interim coach,” the Korea Football Association said on Tuesday. “We will appoint Kim Do-hoon as the interim head coach and will play against Singapore (away) on June 6 and China (home) on June 11,” it said.

The Football Association sacked coach Jürgen Klinsmann in February, blaming him for the failure to win the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar. It took three months to find a permanent successor. In March, the Korean Football Association asked then-Olympic soccer team coach Hwang Sun-hong to take over for the World Cup qualifiers, and by June, the team was still playing on an interim basis.

The KFA said: “Negotiations for the selection of a national team coach are ongoing and it is possible that the appointment will not be finalized before the June A match. In preparation for this eventuality, the national strength committee met this morning (June 20) to discuss the matter, and as a result, it was agreed to appoint Kim Do-hoon as the interim head coach for the two June matches.”

Kim, a striker as a player, has been the head coach of Incheon United and Ulsan since 2005, starting with Seongnam Ilhwa. In 2020, he led Ulsan to 토토사이트 the AFC Champions League title.

“Coach Kim has shown his abilities and achievements during his diverse career as a coach,” said Jeong Jeong-sung, chairman of the National Power Enhancement Committee, adding, “His familiarity with the local environment, including leading the team to the Singapore League championship, also contributed to his selection.”

On the same day, Kim shared his thoughts through the Football Association. “We will do our best in the World Cup qualifiers in June. We don’t have much time, so I will help us show the strengths of the players we have on the field,” he said.

“It was a bit overwhelming,” he said of being asked to take over 바카라사이트 추천 as interim coach, “but I made the decision to help Korean soccer a little bit. I will do my best in the given environment.”

Kim decided to do his best for just two games. “I will do my best to prepare well with my players and bring good results,” he emphasized.

The interim head coach will form a coaching staff in consultation with the Football Association. The June A team roster will be announced on June 27th.
